Frieda Klausner has selected four particularly beautiful tours for you here...

Four mountain highlights

  • Little Tibet

The roof of the world in Tirol: There is an area reminiscent of the highlands of Tibet in the Zillertal Valley. Little Tibet! Buses shuttle regularly from Mayrhofen to Bärenbadalm at 1,450 metres above sea level, from where it is not far to the Zillergrund Valley. This tributary valley is known for the Zillertal Alps Nature Park, its reservoir and magical place of “Little Tibet”.

“Balm for the soul! This is one of the most beautiful and magical places in Austria for me and many of our guests!”

  • Penkenjoch – (Granatkapelle - Garnet Chapel)

Take the Finkenberger Almbahnen cable car to Penkenjoch at 2,095 metres above sea level. From there, take trail no. 57 past the Wanglalm and on to the Wanglspitz Peak (2,420 m). From the top station of the Horbergjoch chairlifts walk along trail no. 51 to the highest peak of the Tux Alps, the Rastkogel (2,762 m).

From there, fantastic views open up over three valleys; the Inn, Tux and Zillertal! Walk down either using the same route back to the top station of the lifts, or along trail no. 318 over the west ridge (Westgrat) to the Geiselalm, then via the Geiselhöfe back to Vorderlanersbach/Tux. Duration: ca. 3 hours

„A wonderful panorama with views that stretch as far as the Zugspitze await our guests at the top, where the exertions of the ascent are quickly forgotten!“

  • Kasererscharte / Frauenwand / Weitental Valley

The cable car takes you up to the Sommerbergalm at 2,100 metres. Trail no. 526 will take you to your first goal of the day, the Kasererscharte. Continue along trail no. 527 to the 2,541-metre high “Frauenwand” rock face. Magnificent views of the Hintertux Glacier, imposing Lärmstange and the Tuxer Alps await. Then hike back to the Tuxer Jochhaus. From here, you can follow a comfortable descent to the Sommerbergalm, or continue via route no. 326 through the idyllic Weitental Valley back to Hintertux. Duration: 4 hours, level of difficulty: challenging

„Four hours in duration and a rather sporty tour - but the view over the glacier, Lärmstange and the Tuxer Alps more than compensates for your efforts!“

  • Breakfast hike to the Bichlalm

The early bird catches the worm? You bet he does! A saying that could have been invented for the Klausnerhof. Or more precisely, the hotel’s own alpine farm, the Bichlalm. It takes around 45 minutes to walk up there from Hintertux, where your morning walk will be rewarded with a welcoming moo from the farm’s own cows and a fantastic breakfast!

Many products come from the farm itself, such as milk and yoghurt, while all others are sourced from associated regional businesses. Visitors can look forward to homemade sweet dishes and many other culinary highlights, which can be enjoyed either in the welcoming dining lounge or outside on the spectacular sun terrace.

You can hike up to the Bichlalm from the Tux Valley, or take the cable car to the Sommerbergalm at 2100 m and walk down to the Bichlalm along the “Güterweg” trail.

„The Bichlalm is well known for its fabulous views of the Hintertux Glacier and Tux Alps - scenes you will seldom find elsewhere!“
